March 14, 2015

The City of Hamilton is preparing to host the 4th annual City Food Festival from 16th to 21st of March, with local chefs to set to compete in a canapé competition, which will be followed by a wine tasting and street festival.

Speaking at a launch event held on Friday, Bermuda Gas General Manager Judith Uddin said, “I am personally delighted to welcome back the City of Hamilton to the Annual Food Festival Show. We’re hosting two events here, one on Monday and one on Wednesday, and we’re sponsoring the week-long event.

“We’re very excited and I know the Bermuda Gas team is delighted to host this event again. We are giving away great prizes to the chefs and we have door prizes. It’s a very exciting event and we foodies can’t wait to taste the chefs’ dream dishes.”

The Chef Competition kicks off the week of events with two preliminary rounds taking place on March 16th and 18th at Bermuda Gas. All Chefs are to prepare three distinctly different canapés from a box of ingredients provided 48 hours in advance.

Each chef’s name will be randomly drawn from a box for night selection, with a maximum of five chefs participating per night. A winner from each night will be selected and advance to the finals taking place at the Street Festival on March 21st.

Following the chef’s competition the Goslings Wine Tasting will take place on March 20th at the Gosling’s Wine Cellar with the $100 tickets including a four piece Riedel stemware set, and then the event moves to the City Hall Car Park on March 21st, where the street festival will take place, featuring almost two dozen restaurants, caterers, and food related companies.

There will be multiple food demonstrations, fun-filled Bermuda food dish competitions for the public to participate in, as well as the Chef Competition finals taking place live. Tickets for all events are available online at www.ptix.bm.
