Man Injured In Industrial Accident In Paget
[Updated with video] A 48 year old man is being treated at KEMH for what the police said were “unspecified injuries” after he became trapped under a piece of heavy machinery at the Botanical Gardens this morning.
A police spokesperson said, “Around 9:05am on Thursday, March 5th Police and first responders attended an industrial accident that took place at the Botanical Gardens in Paget.
“It appears that a 48 year old Devonshire male became trapped under a piece of heavy machinery. He was eventually freed and transported to KEMH where he is being treated for unspecified injuries. A Health and Safety Officer was present and an investigation into this incident is ongoing.”
Update 1.38pm: Fire Service spokesperson Sergeant Russann Francis said, “At approximately 9:02am this morning, Thursday, March 5, 2015, the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service responded to a report of an industrial accident at 169 South Road, Paget near to the Botanical Gardens.
“It was reported that a male in his forties was found to have been rolled over by a bobcat and was in excruciating pain. The Fire Service responded to the incident with one vehicle and four emergency medical technicians who quickly assessed the patient who was found to have multiple injuries.”
“The severely injured man was immediately transported to King Edward Memorial Hospital via ambulance for further treatment.”
