Malachi Simmons To Perform Locally In August

April 26, 2015

Headshot MalachiThe Bermuda Civic Ballet has announced that Bermudian dancer Malachi Simmons will be coming home to the island in the summer to perform at City Hall on August 6 and 7.

While attending Edge Hill University in the United Kingdom, Mr. Simmons was chosen to appear in the New Adventures show, Matthew Bourne’s Lord of the Flies, which gave him the experience of working with Britain’s most successful dance company.

He went on to graduate with a first class degree and win the university’s prestigious Adam Bell Scholarship.

Since then, he’s been touring with 12 Degrees North, a dance company for postgraduates, and teaching and performing at arts festivals and dance events. Recently, he gained funding through 12 Degrees North to develop his own work.

For his appearances with Civic, Mr. Simmons is choreographing a new piece, which involves many breaking/capoeira influences, and will entail very physical contact work.

Men and women and boys and girls who are interested in dancing with Mr. Simmons can tweet him @MalachiSimmons or email helle@transact.bm.
