Chelsea Smith Awarded Deloitte Scholarship

Deloitte Ltd. announced that the 2015 Deloitte Scholarship recipient is Chelsea Smith.

The scholarship award offers up to $20,000 per year for a maximum of 2 years and is available to Bermudians pursuing an undergraduate degree with an interest in business.

A spokesperson said, “While the caliber of shortlisted scholarship applicants was very high, Chelsea stood out for her outstanding academic achievement, her passion towards her chosen area of study and her commitment to community initiatives.”

“Chelsea is currently in her second year at University of Western Ontario and is completing a Bachelor of Management and Organizational Studies degree with a specialization in Accounting,” Deloitte said.

“She is a member of a number of societies, including the DECA U club which engages students in business-related areas such as marketing, entrepreneurship and management. Chelsea is additionally involved in the DAN Management Students’ Association [DMSA], and the Pre-Business Student Network [PBSN].

“Her community involvement has ranged from raising money for the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation by competing in various dance competitions, being selected as a Court Appointed Special Advocate, supporting the Huntsman Cancer Foundation and the Children’s Miracle Foundation, and volunteering at the Boys and Girls Club as well as the Best Buddies program.

“Deloitte Ltd. is committed to the development of outstanding Bermudians, providing Bermudian graduate and undergraduate students in Accounting, Actuarial and other Business studies with funding for overseas education.

“The Deloitte Scholarship is one of many ways Deloitte engages future leaders and offers them a glimpse of the organization’s culture. Students are also able to hone their skills through the Deloitte Exclusive Experience Program [DEEP] as interns during the summer months.”
