GSP To Host ‘We Love You Dad’ For Fathers
Gina Spence Productions [GSP] is getting set to present a celebration for fathers, beginning with the Father’s Day Proclamation, to be read on the steps of City Hall on Friday, June 19 at 5.15pm by Premier Michael Dunkley.
The proclamation, along with speeches on fatherhood from former Royal Gazette Editor Bill Zuill, local business owner Ricky Spence, and founder of Imagine Bermuda Glenn Fubler, will be broadcast live on FM 89.
This event, dubbed ‘We Love You Dad,’ is a salute to fathers intended to celebrate, thank and pay tribute to the significant contributions fathers make in the lives of their children, families, and communities.
A spokesperson said, “Attendees can also give donations to our ‘Champions Program,’ the first of its kind for victims and their families, which provides educational scholarships, school uniforms, counseling, and healthy food items for children who have lost their Fathers and are left behind from gun violence and homicide in Bermuda.”
There will be a donation table and tribute box to give the community an opportunity to write a tribute in memory of fathers who have passed.
On Father’s Day, GSP will gather the tributes and pray for those families in remembrance of their fathers.
The event is free for the whole family, with activities for children including a fun castle and special face painting so that children can get their fathers’ names and hearts designed by an artist.
“The event will include an awards presentation honouring local organizations that provide support and empowerment to fathers and young males, with this year’s awardees include Men Speak @ Bermuda College, Bermuda Cancer and Health, North Village Community Club, Gerry’s House, and Hamilton Rotary.
“There will also be performances by Big Snipes, Septimus, Jeanette Innis, Shine Hayward, and Places Gombeys.”
Sponsors of the ‘We Love You Dad’ event include Bank of Bermuda Foundation, Lambert and Lambert Rentals, and Friends of GSP. “For more information, visit the website, email spencegina@yahoo.com, or call 704-0224.
