7th Named Storm Of 2015 Atlantic Season Forms

Tropical Storm Grace — the 7th named storm of the 2015 Atlantic season — formed today [Sept 5], while Tropical Storm Fred has been downgraded to a depression.

The U.S. National Hurricane Centre said, “At 5.00pm AST (2100 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Grace was located near latitude 12.6 North, longitude 26.4 West. Grace is moving toward the west near 14 mph [22 km/h], and this general motion is expected to continue for the next couple of days.

“Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 40 mph [65 km/h] with higher gusts. Some additional strengthening is expected during the next day or so, with weakening possible by Monday.”

According to the Bermuda Weather Service, neither Fred or Grace are threats to Bermuda at this time.
