ADHT Charity Bake-Off Prize Winners Announced

September 11, 2015

The African Diaspora Heritage Trail [ADHT] Bermuda Foundation is thanking  the people and organisations that supported the ADHT/Green Lite Café & Eatery Back to School Bake-Off on Saturday [Sept 5], and also announced the winners of the culinary contest.

A spokesperson said, “Kudos and congratulations to the winners in the various categories. Unlike the Great British Bake-Off which has 12 entrants, there were 11 bakers who in the end donned their chef hats and aprons to compete for the various prizes.

“Their goods were presented to our esteemed group of judges who did not know which baker baked which item – they were judging blind. Our panel of judges included Mr. Fred Ming and his son, Chef Shawn Ming. Both father and son have been culinary lecturers at the Bermuda College, Shawn is still there, and they have participated as judges in a number of culinary competitions both locally and internationally.

“We also had another culinary lecturer from the Bermuda College, Chef Tenika Eve, who also has her own cooking show locally.”

“There was a three-way tie for the People’s Choice Award between Myra Muhammad, Chelsey Thomas and Michelle Weldon with Myra Muhammad being declared the eventual winner, but all three bakers received prizes.”
