Photos: Bermuda Rugby Football Union Matches

The National Sports Center was recently the scene of the latest round of Bermuda Rugby Football Union League matches, with Teachers taking on the Renegades.

In the Women’s match, the Teachers recorded a 2-1 win. Amy Harvey put Renegades ahead before Lauren Rothwell tied the game. Najee Pitt-Clarke scored the winner for Teachers, collecting a kick through from Emily Sinclair and sprinting clear from 30 yards out.

In the Men’s match, the Teachers edged the Renegades 14-13. The Teachers got try’s from Thomas Greenslade and Andrew Hook, while Chris Naylor kicked both conversions, The Renegades got a try from Jahan Cedanio, which was converted by Brian Archibold; Archibold also added two penalties but it was not enough.

In other action, Senior Rugby returned to the National Sports Center, with the Police Women’s team victorious over last year’s unbeaten Mariners by a score of 3-2. The match saw one try from Isabelle van der Westhuizen and two from Jo Godfrey for Police, while the Mariners got try’s from Karly Alleyne and Neeks Borden.

In Men’s action, Police cruised to a 28-12 win over the Mariners. An early penalty from Dan Cole and finishes from Michael Halbert and Stephan Smit for Police on either side of an amazing individual score from Chakote Wainwright-Basden had the tides turn for a 17-5 lead to Police.

National Team coach Rudi van der Westhuizen increased the lead before Neville Zuill touched down, and further goals from Cole ended the match 28-5 to Police.
