2015 ISACA Conference Set For November 12

ISACA Bermuda is getting set to host its annual conference, scheduled for Thursday, November 12 at the Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club in Hamilton.

The event will include “informative and interesting” presentations by international speakers over various facets of regulatory compliance in Bermuda.

The conference will kick off at 8.30am with registration and a welcome breakfast, with 7.5 CPE points available for attendees. The cost to attend is $270 for ISACA members and $295 for non-members, with an early bird rate of $245 for those registering before October 31.

A spokesperson said, “From 9.30am to 10.30am will feature Duncan Card, Managing Partner, Bennett Jones, on the topic ‘Legal Complexity Around Regulatory Compliance.’

“Duncan is called to the bars in both Bermuda and Ontario, Canada and is widely considered as one of the leading commercial lawyers in Canada. He has been included in the prestigious ranking of Lexpert Magazine’s and American Lawyer Media’s ranking of the Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada for over 15 years.

“Duncan is also a sought after advisor to corporate boards and has written and taught extensively on corporate governance topics and issues. His areas of international expertise include corporate governance; regulatory and legal matters; risk management best practices; and governance of intellectual property development and protection.

“From 10.45am to 11.45am will feature Megan Brister, Senior Manager, Deloitte Canada, on the topic ‘Responding to the evolving cyber threat landscape.’

“Megan has over 15 years of experience in the design, implementation, and management of security, privacy, and risk management programs for business and technology and is currently leading the expansion of Deloitte’s cyber intelligence centres across Canada.

“Megan has authored several articles on security, risk, and privacy and frequently speaks to Boards and executive teams on the topics of security, cyber threats, incident response, and privacy program management.

“From 1.15pm to 2.45pm will feature Katherine Cupidore, Director, Deloitte CBC [Human Capital], on the topic ‘Organizational Culture, building accountability within your organization.’

“Katherine oversees Talent integration across Deloitte Caribbean and Bermuda firms, designing a shared services model to optimize efficiency and enhance quality across the region. Katherine has served as a subject matter expert to a number of clients on HR transformation and future state, performance management, succession planning, and culture.

From 3.00pm to 4.00pm will feature Nancy Volesky, Director of Privacy and Data Protection Project, Dept of E-Commerce, on the topic ‘Personal Information Protection Act [PIPA].’

“Nancy leads the team responsible for the development of Bermuda’s forthcoming privacy legislation, known as the PIPA and holds a CIPP/US designation as a Certified Information Privacy Professional. Nancy has an extensive background in public policy, which includes working for the Government of Canada and serves a voluntary role on the Board of the Technology Leadership Foundation in Bermuda.

“From 4.15pm to 5.00pm will feature Christopher Kniffen, US Director of Sales, Seclore, on the topic ‘Information Rights Management Demo and Q&A.’

“Christopher has extensive experience in application software within financial services and has been responsible for the introduction of Seclore’s IRM software into the North American market. With external collaboration, cloud computing, mobility, and dynamic web apps, Chris recognizes that the world is changing, and with that, your information security must change.

“Chris will demonstrate Seclore software designed to secure and control data, empowering an organization to secure sensitive information on any network and on any device.

“From 5.15pm to 5.45pm, ISACA Bermuda will be hosting its AGM subsequent to the close of the Annual Conference. All members and prospective members are invited to attend the AGM at which the Board will present the 2015 Chapter Report. Members are also encouraged to submit their nominations to the Chapters Board for 2015/16.
