YAO Baseball League: Marlins & Cubs Win

The YAO Baseball League continued this weekend with a double header which saw the Marlins defeat the Angels 15-5, and the Cubs defeat the Marlins 14-1.

Marlins Defeat Angels 15-5

Marlins captured the lead in the first inning. Angels knotted the game up at four in the bottom of the first. Marlins took the lead for good with two runs in the second inning and five runs in the fourth inning.

Marlins tore up the base paths, as seven players stole at least two bases. Cameron Morrison led the way with three. Daniel Exel lead all Pitchers with 4 strikeouts, giving up 3 hits no runs and a walk. Angels will try and get back on track next weekend with a doubleheader.

Cubs Defeat Marlins 14-1

Cubs improved to 2-1, jumping out early in the first inning, scoring 10 runs. The Cubs offense was led by Gio Debraga, Liam McCue and Somers Mello, each driving in 2 runs, while Noah Simons, Riley Rego and Jaden Malpas also added an RBI each for the Cubs.

Marlins struggled in their second game, only managing 3 hits. Sam Resnik shut down the Marlins offense, throwing 4 innings, giving up 2 hits, no runs, striking out 4 and walking 2 for the win.
