New State-Of-The-Art Boxing Ring For BBF

June 30, 2018

The Bermuda Olympic Association [BOA] today [June 30] announced that the Bermuda Boxing Federation [BBF] has received a new AIBA and Olympic-standard boxing ring funded through BOA’s partnership programme with the Pan American Sports Organization [PASO] that makes new equipment available to qualifying national sports federations free of charge.

The new ring is a Wesing model that is compliant with all AIBA [international boxing association] standards and features a number of integrated safety features, as well as a colour scheme that best suits television broadcasts.

Melissa Looby, said on behalf of Nathan Dill the President of the BBF, “Bermuda is now one of the only countries in the region whose athletes have access to this kind of ring. It enhances our training capabilities and will make for better local tournaments. It also positions Bermuda well as a location for Olympic qualifying events and other international competitions. We thank the BOA and PASO for their generous support.”

Judy Simons, BOA President said, “The BOA is focused on helping our young athletes from all sports along on their journeys to success. Our boxers have always represented our island well in international competition, so we’re especially pleased to have been able to work in partnership with PASO to help the BBF acquire this important equipment and support the further development of Boxing in Bermuda.”
