Photos & Results: Schools Cycling Race Series
The Bermuda Cycling Academy Victoria Park Criterium was held this morning [March 31] with riders taking a route around Victoria Park that included Dundonald Street, Park Road, Washington Street, Victoria Street and Cedar Avenue. Incorporated into today’s event was the start of the Schools Cycling Race Series.
An online post said, “The Bermuda Rouleurs Cycle Club in conjunction with the Bermuda Bicycle Association are offering a Schools Cycling Race Series for children aged 8-14 for free.
“Any type of pedal bike in suitable working order is allowed [no training wheels]. Helmets must be worn at all times. The races are FREE and for 8-14 year olds [age defined as of Dec. 31, 2019].
“The series is 3 races but participants can compete in 1, 2 or all three races, it’s up to you! The top points scorers in each race contribute to the school overall series competition.”
Three Race Series Schedule:
- March 31, 2019 – Hamilton, Victoria Park – Hosted by the Bermuda Cycling Academy
- May 5, 2019 – Hamilton, Front Street – Hosted by VT Madison
- June 2, 2019 – St. David’s, Bermuda Motorsports Park – Hosted by the Bermuda Rouleurs Cycle Club

In the 8 – 10 Age Group, Kelise Wade from Northlands placed first for the girls while Harris Fleming from Warwick placed first for the boys. Charlotte Millington from BHS placed first female in the 11 – 12 Age Group while Gordon Smith from Whitney Institute won for the males. In the 13 – 14 Age Group, Jasmin Hasselkuss from Somersfield placed first for the females, while Odin Heinz from Somersfield placed first for the boys.
