5 BDA Websites You May Not Know – But Should

May 4, 2010

Below are links and information on five great Bermuda websites which are lesser known but well worth a visit. Ranging from football, religious, charitable and more, the websites listed below are all must sees for various reasons:

ProjectChangeHaiti

This blog chronicles the assistance that Bermuda based medical staff provided to Haiti immediatly after the devastating earthquake in January 2010. With forty-one articles, dozens of photos, and information detailing over 100 operations the local medical staff performed, the information contained on this blog is testament to Bermudian generosity of spirit. Footykingdom.com

This website covers international football, mostly the European leagues. It has a slick design, and incorporates video nicely. More impressive, it’s run singlehandedly by a 20 year old Bermudian female football fan who does it in her spare time between studying. Even if you aren’t a fan of football, stop by and admire the quality workmanship of a young Bermudian. LINK

Axiomgaming.net

Winners of the 2010 Techweek Most Innovative Youth Project, this website is run by two high school students. Emmanuel and Alexander developed the gaming website, and expanded it to include services such as website design, computer repairs and more. Both teens are going off to study software related subjects at university level, and we will probably see big things out of them in the future. As above, even if you aren’t a gaming fan, stop by and see the award winning work of two outstanding teenagers. LINK

Seventh-day Adventist Church

A church website listed? Yes! This website is run by the Seventh-day Adventist Church in St. George, Bermuda. It is frequently updated, very modern, containing a link to their Twitter feed, videos, upcoming events and more. They even have downloadable audio versions of Pastor Stefan Burton-Schnüll sermons which are placed on the website in a very timely manner. LINK

Volunteer.bm

Not only is this website promoting a very good cause, it is also a technically impressive website. It contains a search system where people can look for volunteer opportunities by a number of different criteria including number of hours required, length of commitment required, scheduled vs your own time, days of week etc. LINK
