Reports of Gunshots In Sandys
The Police responded to reports of gunshots in the Honeysuckle Lane area in Sandy’s overnight. Upon Police arrival they conducted a search of the area, however at this time were unable to officially confirm if any shell casings or evidence of gunshots were found. The Police are presently investigating the reports, and maintained a high police presence in the area. They stated they made further checks at King Edward Memorial Hospital, and there were no reports of any injured parties having arrived.
The Sandy’s Parish area has experienced a recent surge of gun incidents, with the June 14th shooting murder of Freddy Maybury outside of Woody’s Restaurant on Malabar Road in Sandys, and the May 28 shooting murder of Dekimo Martin in Peacock Crescent, Sandy’s Parish. In addition, on May 5 the Boaz Island Shell gas station in Sandy’s was robbed at gunpoint, and there were reports of gunshots on Cambridge Road in Sandy’s on March 22, and gunshot reports in the Scotts Hill, Sandy’s area on March 16.
