Airport Long Term Parking & Cancelled Ferries

The Department of Airport Operations today [Dec 27] advised that the Long Term Parking facility at LF Wade International Airport is full to capacity due to flights being cancelled and returning travelers experiencing delays. In addition, the weather is also affecting local Ferry Services and as of noon today the Department of Marine and Ports advised that the blue route was canceled for the rest of the day. On the pink route, service to Belmont Ferry stop is suspended with all other stops running on normal holiday schedule.

An airport spokesperson said “While provisions are being made to allocate additional parking spaces on a limited basis, travelers are urged to make arrangements for a taxi or to be dropped off to avoid difficulties finding parking. Travelers should also check their flights are operating as scheduled due to severe weather in many gateway destinations.”

As of 1 p.m. this afternoon the following flights have been affected:

  • Delta flights DL 560 and DL 561 to and from Boston cancelled
  • Jetblue flights 1731 and B61732 to and from JFK cancelled
  • Continental flights CO1657 and CO1660 from Newark cancelled [Aircraft still on the ground in Bermuda.]
  • America Airlines flights AA1378 and AA1443 cancelled
  • US Air flights US1070 and US1425 from Philly delayed 3 hours

According to CNN: “Thousands of travelers were stranded Monday as blizzard conditions halted flights at New York’s three major airports, slowed rail travel and continued to create treacherous conditions on roads throughout the East Coast.”

“The storm brought high winds — in some cases as much as 80 miles per hour — and blinding snow to much of the East Coast beginning Sunday. Some places were forecast to receive as much as 30 inches of snow overall. Blizzard warnings remained in effect through noon Monday for much of coastal New England, where coastal flooding was also a problem.”
