Temporary Power Outage Across Parts of Island

Due to an engine tripping in BELCO’s East Power Station pockets of the island lost electricity this afternoon [Aug.4], however it was restored shortly thereafter.

A BELCO spokesperson said, “I can confirm that due to one engine tripping in our East Power Station and then another, load was shed from the system at 3:32 pm.”

“Power was restored gradually with full restoration by 4:15 pm. In all, 11 circuits were shed, affecting pockets of customers across the Island. The reasons why the two engines tripped will be investigated.”
