17-Yr-Old Female Airlifted After Accident
A 17-year-old female has been airlifted overseas for medical treatment after being involved in an accident last night [Oct.8]. She was the passenger on a motorcycle which collided with a car on Verdmont Road in Smith’s parish near the junction with Sayle Road.
The bike rider [24-yr-old St. George’s man] was injured and taken to hospital via ambulance for treatment, while the driver of the car [33-yr-old St. George’s woman] received minor injuries.
A police spokesperson said, “Around 8pm on Saturday, police and first responders attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on Verdmont Road in Smith’s parish near the junction with Sayle Road involving a car and a motorcycle. It appears that both vehicles were traveling along Verdmont Road when they collided.”
“The rider of the motorcycle, a 24 year old St. George’s man and his pillion passenger, a 17 year old St. George’s woman, were injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. The pillion passenger was reportedly flown overseas for further medical care.”
“The driver of the car, a 33 year old St. George’s woman, received minor injuries. Both vehicles were damaged. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Any witnesses to this collision are encouraged to contact PC Walter Jackson on 295-0011.”
