NY Times Spotlights Bermuda’s New Branding
The advertising section of the New York Times has run an article on Bermuda’s new branding campaign. The $4.8 million campaign was recently unveiled by the Bermuda Department of Tourism, and is highlighted by a new logo featuring the slogan “Bermuda – So Much More.”
The article said: “A popular vacation destination is trying again to encourage tourists to expect the unexpected, as well as all that visitors have traditionally traveled there for. The goal is explicit in the theme of a campaign on behalf of the Bermuda Department of Tourism: “So much more.”
The campaign, now under way, plays up cultural and culinary attractions and diversions like scuba diving and golf along with mainstays like the pink sand beaches and Bermuda’s proximity to the East Coast.” Read the full article here on the New York Times.
Coming from St. Lucia i was a bit sceptical about the distance i had discided to travel but hey guy it was worth every minute i spent.Bermuda is the relaxing capital of the world i love it there.

THanks for the Kind words… I love St. Lucia as well.
Hi Dit, i would like to say thank you very much for coming to Bermuda and spreading the word. We encourage you to come back for some more fun in the sun. Be blessed
So much more – guns, drugs, crime, unemployment, debt, empty houses, empty office space. This is a very appropriate slogan!
James, you have no idea what you are talking about. New to the island are you?
Let’s try to be a bit positive please—if we spent as much time providing constructive input as we do being negative and nasty–Bermuda and the world would be a better place.
Please grow up!
James, I think your comment is what Minister Furbert was referring too. Give it a break and help promote what IS great about Bermuda!
Wayne?
he is just telling the truth..
Come on dude, positive!
It is very easy to have a small worldview when you have limited view of the real world. When I was traveling in Italy and Spain this summer, you had to be openly cautious of gypsies and scam artists, constantly keeping an eye out and ensuring your bags are tightly secure in front of you. The fact is, never once I have ever been concerned about walking down Hamilton in broad daylight thinking that I was being targeted by anything like you would in these other countries. Do we have isolated incidents like anywhere else? Sure. Is it perhaps more common than 15 years ago? Sure. Is it as unsafe as people want to try and make it out to be? Absolutely not.
Listen, I’m not a fan of many things that have taken place politically or economically in this island and my sentiment will expressed at the ballot box. However, if you had a bit more worldly perspective, you’d quickly realize that Bermuda really does have a wonderful tourist product to offer. I’m not convinced the government has yet to figure out how best to seize the opportunity and revitalize the industry. But I certainly know there is a significant level of raw material with which it has to work with and many tourism boards would love to have many of the valuable selling points our island has to offer.
@ Dit: Thank you for your kind endorsement. It means something to me when someone from another island gives us praise.
Dit: Please come back and bring your friends – you’re welcome any time!
@ Dit so glad that you could come and stay a while. We are grateful that you selected our small island for your R&R! Have a great day!
@ Dit, This must be the so much more, when visitors come and enjoy themselves and write positive comments it helps to macke a nice sunny day! You are more than welcome to return!Tell your friends especially if you lookup the tourism online campaign which includes all the available hotels, guest houses, private accomodations, places of interest and other emmenities..
Close – Clean – Safe – Beautiful – Relaxing – Friendly – Quiet. IMO, that’s why most visitors come here over and over. They come because there isn’t much to do but lay about and tan on our pink beaches. Good restaurants (which we now have) and in-hotel casinos will enhance that experience. It IS expensive here, so those who do come gain some prestige, in that they are perceived to be able to afford it. And maybe the neighbours can’t. One more point, most visitors do feel safe here compared to other places they have visited. Just some thoughts from someone in the business.
I love Bermuda and had a great time during the annual Cup Match Weekend. I brought friends with me and stayed at the Royal Palms in Hamilton. What a gem and we all felt as if we were home. We rented mopeds and had no problem getting around the island. Drivers were patient and Horseshoe Bay Beach was amazing. Very festive…we are making this an annual trip and will be bringing 20 more people next year.
Oh one more thing…we flew from Baltimore for $300.00 round trip including all the fees and the hotel was $150.00 per night. Royal Palms is a great hotel…who needs 5 star anyway when you are spending most of your time out on the beach or doing activities..hotel rooms are made for sleeping and showering.
thanks for the kind words “US Observer”. We had started to take things for granted here but I think we are ready to fight for you business. Im glad you enjoyed your time here! Hope to see you again soon!
Bermuda will rise above this…think of the stock market or business in general. There are down times and there are up time. This too shall pass but its going to take a lot of hard work and determination. Regarding the crim and gangs – my hope is that this will also pass. These young people are crying out for help…its very obvious. Pay attention to them and give them the opportunity to live their best life. But first you have to start with the parents. Apples do not fall far from the tree…
