Motocross Club Racing For Charity On Sunday

June 13, 2013

The Bermuda Motocross Club is hosting the final race day of the 2012/13 season on Sunday [June 16] and donating all proceeds of the ticket gate to the St Johns Ambulance.

“All year the SJA donate their time and resources to ensure our riders have adequate medical coverage in the event of an accident”, a spokesperson said.

“Motocross riders regularly maintain their machines in order to ensure they are mechanically as safe as possible. The BMC also have Rules that riders must follow to avoid unnecessary accidents. The track is groomed bi-weekly to keep it as safe as possible.

“Even with all these precautions Motocross racing is a physically demanding, high speed extreme sport and is fairly risky. The St Johns Ambulance crews are there for those times when medical assistance is needed.

“They tend to all accidents immediately with their Emergency Medical Team and either treat riders on site or transport them to the hospital if additional care is required.

“Very rarely does the club proceed with racing in the absence of the team. The BMC Executive were happy to donate the proceeds of this race day to assist the SJA with their fundraising efforts as a ‘thank you’ for their commitment and hard work they do tirelessly for the community, but specifically the Bermuda Motocross Club.

“The race is on Sunday, June 16th and gates open at 12 noon for the first race to begin at 1.00pm. There will be family activities such as face painting and fun castles as well as food and snack vendors.

“This one day only racing is open for all riders, including non-members, former riders and mechanics. To sign up or get more information to ride email bdamotocrossclub@gmail.com”.
