Video: Philippe Cousteau On Marine Reserve

September 30, 2013

In a video spot for the Bermuda Blue Halo project, an effort to see our island take a leading role in establishing new marine reserves in order to help preserve ocean life in the face of its destruction due to environmental damage, Philippe Cousteau urges everyone in Bermuda to get involved and take part in helping his vision come to fruition.

In the short video, Cousteau expounds upon the ability of marine reserves to help change the trend of decline in ocean life, suggesting that Bermuda stands at a crossroads that could see it set an example for the rest of the world in taking real, measurable action in protecting it.

The grandson of famed marine biologist Jacques Cousteau, Philippe has recently given talks in Bermuda about the importance of preserving our oceans, acting as the face and voice of The Pew Charitable Trusts as it pushes to move the Blue Halo Project forward.

Bermuda waters are already being protected by the Bermuda Government. Why give a 1000 year lease to Pew and it isn’t even a Bermudian company! 1, 000 is a long time! Vote no to save Bermuda water for our next generations.

No one is giving PEW anything you dingle-berry! Get your head out of your a** and educate/inform yourself and stop misinforming others!

“The Bermuda Government is considering a proposal to protect a portion of the sea around Bermuda as a marine reserve. The concept is to protect the more distant waters of our Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) while allowing for some measure of current and potential marine activities.”
