Newly Merged Consumer Affairs Relocates

April 9, 2014

The Ministry of Home Affairs advised that Consumer Affairs has relocated its office to the D. Rego Building, 3rd Floor, 75 Reid Street, Hamilton.

They were previously located in the Ingham and Wilkinson Building on Front Street, but have now moved into the facilities of the Rent Commission.

The Minister of Home Affairs Michael Fahy made the announcement of the consolidation of the Rent Commission and Consumer Affairs in the Senate on February 19.

At that time the Minister said [PDF] that as a result of the consolidation of office space and the abolition of two senior civil servant posts, the Ministry is expecting to save around $320,000 a year.

A Ministry spokesperson said today, “Consumer Affairs will continue its mandate of offering guidance to its consumers, businesses and other organizations.

“Individuals who are seeking assistance in the first instance are encouraged to visit their web-site, www.ca.gov.bm and read the relevant advice. Individuals are also advised that they can contact Consumer Affairs directly at consumers@gov.bm or by calling 297-7627.”

Well done as I do hope that we got rid of the “TWO” over paid and underworked civil servants.
As we are still “BORROWING” $276Million a year to pay these people.
as we are still having to find $120Million to pay the interest on the “HUGE DEBT” of a little biddy $2.324Billion dollars.
