Men’s U17 Football World Cup Team Revealed
The Bermuda Football Association has announced the players and officials comprising the Bermuda Men’s U17 team that will compete in the Caribbean Football Union Under 17 World Cup Qualifiers in Bahamas.
A spokesperson said, “The team departs Bermuda on July 21, 2014. Bermuda has been placed in group 4 and will play against, Puerto Rico, Martinique, and host country the Bahamas. The winners of each group and the two best second placed teams will advance to the final round to be held at a venue and date to be named.
“Following the CFU U17 Group 4 matches in the Bahamas, the team will travel to Mexico City to participate in the third Copa Mexico de Naciones 2014. Bermuda received the invite to participate in this event as a result of their performance in the CONCACAF U15 tournament held in the Cayman Islands last year.
“Bermuda has been drawn in Group D with Columbia, Portugal, and Chile. The team will depart Bahamas to Mexico on July 28 and begin group matches on August 2nd, 2014.
“Joining the team in Miami from his U.S. base is Andrew Donnery; UEFA A licensed coach, instructor for the NSCAA Director of Coaching course, CEO of Fremont Youth Soccer Club in California, and previously played football with Everton FC and Liverpool FC youth teams.
“Mr. Donnery met National Academy Director, Richard Todd, at an NSCAA DOC course and has an extensive playing and coaching background. He will be tasked with providing detailed scouting reports on Bermuda’s opponents and assisting Head Coach Andrew Bascome and staff with development of match day strategies.
“The team’s roster will include Jomari Gooden [SCC], Zenawi Bowen [United FC], Amar Lewis, Kacy Butter field [United FC], Ahria Simons [Valencia], Jerome Bailey [NVCC], Azendae Furbert [United FC], Tahzeiko Harris [SCC], Judah Chapman [Wimbledon FC], Aaron Spencer [Valencia], Osagi Bascome [Valencia Next Generation – Spain], Jahkari Furbert [UE Cornela – Spain], Llneiko Millett [United FC], Ajai Daniels [Dandy Town], Oneko Lowe [Dandy Town], Jason Symonds [Dandy Town], Macquille Walker [Hamilton Parish], Nathan Trott [Valencia Next Generation – Spain], Aaron Burgess [Hamilton Parish], Jomei Bean-Lindo [Dev. Colts].
“The officials will include Mr. Andrew Bascome, Mr. Karl Roberts, Mr. Andrew Donnery, Mrs. Amori Venter, Mr. Mark Wade.
“In the Caribbean Football Union tournament, Bermuda’s first match will see them face the Bahamas on July 23, before taking on Puerto Rico on July 25 and Martinique on July 27.
“In the Copa Mexico de Naciones, Bermuda will face Chile on August 2, Portugal on August 3, and Columbia on August 4.”
Andrew Donnery is listed as the Director of Development for the Bermuda FA.Wow!!
