Bermuda Clay Court Championships Day #3
Women’s Open Singles top seed Jacklyn Lambert recorded her first win at the Moet & Chandon Bermuda Clay Court Championships at Coral Beach & Tennis Club today [Oct 27] when she defeated second seed Imani Phillips 6-0 7-5 today.
Lambert moved into third place in the women’s table with the win, which is led by unseeded Erica Bove who has two wins from two matches. They face each other tomorrow in what promises to be a fierce day of tennis competition.
In Men’s Open Singles action, Coral Beach lead pro and Number 4 seed Neal Towlson defeated veteran Michael Way 6-1 6-1 to become the first player to reach the semi-finals.
He will face the winner of the quarter final between Sam Butler of the UK and Number 2 seed Gavin Manders of Bermuda who play their quarter final tomorrow, as does Number One seed Jensen Bascome, who takes on veteran pro Dean Mello.
Also playing yesterday was Number 3 seed Jovan Whitter. The result of his match with James Finnigan was unavailable.
Tomorrow also sees Lambert take on table leader Bove in the Women’s Open Singles while Ashley Brooks takes on Phillips, who is seeking her first win.
The players in the Men’s and Women’s Open Singles are vying for a $2000 prize for winning the tournament, while the runners-up will receive $500, all courtesy of sponsors Moet & Chandon.
