Opposition Leader Marc Bean On Medical Leave
[Updated] Acting Party Leader David Burt has confirmed that Party Leader Marc Bean will be taking a medical leave of absence, and said it is the party’s hope that “all Bermudians will respect his privacy and continue to hold him and his family up in prayer.”
Mr Bean, who is understood to have taken ill recently, thanked all of Bermuda for their prayers and well wishes.
Mr Burt said, “On behalf of the Bermuda Progressive Labour Party, I would like to acknowledge the sincere inquiries from the Bermuda community regarding our party leader, Marc Bean.
“I have just spoken to Party Leader Bean by phone, and he is doing well. He thanks all of Bermuda for their prayers and well wishes.
“The Party Leader has informed the Party Chairman that he will be taking a medical leave of absence.
“While he is on leave it is our party’s hope that all Bermudians will respect his privacy and continue to hold him and his family up in prayer.”
Update 5.00pm: Premier Michael Dunkley said, “On behalf of the Government, myself, my family and colleagues, I extended my best wishes earlier today to Opposition Leader Marc Bean for a speedy recovery.
“I pray that he and his family are blessed with the strength required to work through this medical challenge together, and am hopeful for his return to good health.”
