Court: Student Pleads Guilty After Police Chase

April 8, 2016

Appearing in Magistrates Court this morning [April 8], a 17-year-old student faced multiple charges, with Calvin Wilson pleading guilty to dangerous driving.

The Crown Prosecutor told the Magistrate that Wilson had led pursuing police on a high speed chase that ran from South Road in Devonshire, Tee Street, Middle Road in Devonshire, ending with Wilson riding into Middletown where he fell off the bike and ran off in a failed attempt to elude police.

Wilson also denied other charges including taking a cycle without the owner’s consent; and without reasonable excuse, was in possession of a bladed article in the form of a folding knife.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo asked Wilson if he was employed. Wilson replied that he had a part-time job and was a full time student still attending high school.

The Magistrate ordered a Social Inquiry Report and ordered that the defendant return to Court in May.
