Aerial Video: Newport To Bermuda Race Start
The Newport Bermuda Race recently concluded, with the vessel Comanche setting an impressive new record in securing a victory in the race.
Jim and Kristy Hinze Clark’s 100 foot screamer, skippered by Ken Read, crossed the line off St. David’s Lighthouse in a provisional 34hrs 42min 53sec, almost five hours ahead of the previous 39:39:18 set in 2012 by George David in Rambler.
Of the 185 boats officially registered to race, 133 boats set out for the 635-mile Gulf stream crossing; 122 finished, with just ten dropouts coming from equipment failures or drifting conditions.
