BIU: Funeral Service To Take Place Tomorrow
The Bermuda Industrial Union [BUI] confirmed that the home-going service for Glenn Simmons will take place as originally planned tomorrow [March 15] however “social distancing measures will be in place.”
A spokesperson said, “After consultation with the Disaster Risk Reduction and Mitigation Team within the Ministry of National Security, the Bermuda Industrial Union wishes to advise its members and friends and family of Brother Glenn Simmons that the march to the Hamilton 7th Day Adventist Church and the funeral service will take place as originally planned.
“However, the BIU is advising that social distancing measures will be in place at the homegoing service on Sunday, March 15, 2020 to lessen the risk of community transmission.
“The BIU is, therefore, advising that any members of the BIU and the general public who are sick or feeling unwell should not attend the service and we are suggesting that they honour Brother Glenn’s memory by remaining at home. As much as we want to mourn Brother Glenn’s death, we are advising against hugging, kissing or other body contact while we are assembled.
“We are encouraging people to honour Brother Glenn’s memory by being safe and cautious during this difficult time in our history,” concluded BIU President Brother Chris Furbert.
