Video: Puppets Highlight Hand Washing
No Strings Productions [NSP] — which Bermudian Michael Frith, the co-creator of Fraggle Rock, is involved in — has released a video aimed at teaching children about proper hand washing techniques in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The well produced video is set against a song saying “time to wash, time to wash your hands” as puppets enthusiastically wash their hands.
A spokesperson told Bernews, “We’re putting this video out now to teach people how to wash their hands properly. A quick soaping under running water won’t kill this virus; it’s the suds and the rubbing that do it.
“Since we had a hand washing song from a video we did two years ago for East Africa, we re-purposed it for Covid 19; this allowed us to get it out quickly without producing a new video.
“We’re hoping to be able to produce a new video with specific messaging for Covid; it’s a matter of raising the money to do it and producing it with as little person-to-person contact as possible. Not easy with puppetry. Puppetry is pretty much a contact sport.
“The video is also going to our outreach partners at No Strings International in the UK, who will be making it available to our partner NGOs on the ground in various places globally.
“The probability is that it will, like our previous films, be translated into numerous languages and dialects, bringing this lifesaving message to populations who might otherwise never hear it. Here’s hoping!”
