Car Crashes Over Embankment In Pembroke
[Updated] Emergency personnel responded in the Pembroke area this morning after a car crashed over an embankment, with the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service extricating two people who were trapped.
A spokesperson said, “At 9:03am, Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service dispatch received a call of a car having fallen over an embankment in Pembroke with two persons reported trapped.
“At 9:06am, the BFRS crews responded with three appliances and a total of nine personnel. Upon arrival at 9:11am, fire crews report seeing one vehicle having fallen over an embankment approximately 10 feet with two persons trapped.
“Using the jaws of life, fire crews extricated the patients and assessed them for injuries. BFRS then handed the patients over to KEMH personnel whom transported them to KEMH via ambulance. The cause of the accident is under investigation by BPS.”
Update 6.24pm: A police spokesperson said, “At around 9:10am today, Wednesday 20th May, emergency services responded to a report of a single vehicle collision, which occurred along Stowe Court in Pembroke.
“It was reported the a 71-yr-old male driver and his 71-yr-old female passenger were travelling along Stowe Court in a private motorcar, when the driver lost control of the vehicle and collided with a residential wall before going over an embankment and landing in the yard of another private residence.
“A team from the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service had to extract both occupants from the vehicle and they were conveyed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment of their injuries. The extent of their injuries are not known at this time.”
