WindReach Provides Remote Learning Packets

April 16, 2021

With the ‘Stay at Home’ order in effect, WindReach recently provided remote learning packets to participants currently enrolled in their life skills, therapeutic riding, and adult day programmes.

A spokesperson said, “Pivoting became the buzzword and learned experience for many nonprofits and businesses alike as they transitioned into thriving amidst a pandemic last year.

“This week, as we moved into the Stay-at-Home Order, WindReach was able to pivot their vital educational and therapeutic programmes that help enrich the quality of life of individuals with special needs to an at-home and remote learning format.

“Participants that are currently enrolled in their Life Skills, Therapeutic Riding and Adult Day programmes received Remote Learning Packets that will assist them to continue to work on their Individual Education Plan goals whilst they are at home.”

Tina Nash, Executive Director, said, “In order for us to ensure that our participants were able to continue with their developmental goals during the Stay-at-Home Order, we needed to ensure that their programmes could be delivered without interruption.

“To accomplish this task, the WindReach Team developed individual/group learning and experience packets for our young participants and our Seniors, communicated with each of our Programme Partners to secure safe delivery of items, resources and packets, and connected with our Participants and their families and caregivers to ensure a smooth transition to virtual educational and therapeutic programming.

“It was truly a united and collective effort from the whole WindReach team. Our goal was to pivot and shift in order to continue to meet the educational needs of our participants. It’s as easy as that. When you maintain a human-centered design approach to your programmes, you better understand what experiences you want to provide for your participants.

“An excellent example of this was including packages of fresh kale, broccoli, beans and sugar peas that our participants planted themselves for a true experiential and hands-on learning experience while at home.

“Creating learning experiences that move beyond the classroom is what we do at WindReach. This Stay-at-Home Order was an excellent opportunity for us to demonstrate what we know works for our participants and to support their ongoing learning goals.”

“It is very important to us that the goals and skills that our participants work on at WindReach translate into their every day experience and in so doing helps to enrich their overall wellness and quality of life.”
