Mandatory Quarantine In Effect As Of June 20th

“As of June 20 2021, all non-immunised persons travelling to Bermuda are subject to mandatory quarantine,” the Health Minister has announced.

The mandatory quarantine, which is the subject of a legal challenge from a group called Constitutional Freedom Bermuda, was initially announced as starting on June 6th, then later announced as starting on June 13th, and will now start on June 20th.

Speaking at tonight’s press conference, Health Minister Kim Wilson said, “As of June 20 2021, all non-immunised persons travelling to Bermuda are subject to mandatory quarantine. Mandatory quarantine means those hotel and guest house properties that have been designated as such by the Bermuda Government.

“There are seven approved quarantine locations:

  • Coco Reef Resort
  • Grotto Bay Beach Resort & Spa
  • Hamilton Princess & Beach Club
  • Willowbank Resort
  • Coral Beach and Tennis Club
  • Rosemont Guest Suites
  • Fairmont Southampton

“Travellers arriving on Sunday, June 20 or after will need to follow the new travel authorisation process where they will be asked a series of questions to determine the category of traveller they fall into. The new process will be available at: https://www.gov.bm/coronavirus-travellers from tomorrow.

“The travel authorisation fee will remain the same at $75.

“An unimmunised traveller requiring a quarantine hotel must:

  • cover the costs for the hotel stay;
  • choose from one of the seven participating properties; and
  • book their hotel in advance of arrival in Bermuda.

“For those people who were already abroad before May 6, the Bermuda Government will pay for the quarantine stay. The details of this will be available to the public later this week.

“Exemptions from the quarantine hotel are limited to

  • Unaccompanied Minors aged 17 years or younger on the date arriving in Bermuda
  • Medically Vulnerable certified by a licensed Physician, Psychologist or local health insurer
  • Caregivers of medically vulnerable travellers

“These persons will still be required to quarantine and will have checks to ensure they are quarantining at home. Minor children, those under 18, will follow a Traveller’s First 14 Days for Children unless they or their parents are required to quarantine. This will include students returning home from boarding school, for example.

“Each non-immunised traveller must have a confirmed [pre-paid] booking at a government-authorised hotel to apply for a Traveller Authorisation. And every immunised traveller must upload proof of their immunisation status to their Traveller Authorisation.

“Testing for travellers will expand to include children from the age of two, with the oropharyngeal PCR test being used for young children.

“We will continue to do our best to keep Bermuda Covid free as we welcome residents home and visitors to our island and re-open our economy.”

  1. Southampton Man Who won’t vote for PLP anymore says:

We as Bermudians will ALWAYS bow down to whatever misconstrued, unethical, fly-by-night ideas this cartoon government will implement to prove their crooked points and keep us (the general population) confused and oppressed.

  2. BDA411 says:

Welcome to communist government and discrimination against people that choose not to vaccine with the experimental vaccine.

    • sandgrownan says:

If you choose not to take the vaccine, that’s your prerogative, however global scientific and medical consensus is that the vaccine is safe and reduces the risk of COIVD – transmission or contraction of the disease.

You have made your choice, you now have to live with the consequence. I would go further, and if any one who has chosen not to be vaccinated, and they catch COVID, I would deny them medical care.

      • sage says:

Medical care doesn’t rely on your permission and I highly doubt someone with your depleted mental faculties is providing medical care. If I didn’t know that good people have taken the shot, I would be rejoicing when the law firm ads seeking plaintiffs to join class action lawsuits start running, when the horrible long term side effects of the vaccines arise, but I would deny the arrogant, self righteous sheep like you medical care and Big Pharma has already avoided any kind of potential settlements for damages, so that’s good.

Go to Marketplace, and buy some tin foil. You sound like you need it.

You know the moon landings were faked
          The earth is flat

THis is where your argument puts you, in the the same league as conspiracy nutjobs and freaks.

      • Scoobie says:

You need to close ya stupid mouth , because whether your vaccinated or not you can still catch the virus , you simpleton , what Burt is doing is unfair and I hope he gets just whats coming to him , you should deny yourself …

  3. Evadne Hancle says:

I am planning to travel to Bermuda sometime this summer I have taken the vaccine and I have proof my question is do I have to take a covid test before I leave Bermuda that’s what I was told

    • Theresa says:

Depends if your country requires it

    • billy joe says:

yes you’ll have to take a pre entry covid test. As that is standard entry requirements into Bermuda

  4. Bermudian for Generations says:

This policy is the most outlandish, over the top, discriminatory policy I have ever witnessed in my over 60 years of living.
PLP, you lost me and more importantly, you lost my vote.
We have long memories and this over step will not fade.

  5. Observer says:

Just get vaccinated and save us all from the out and out whining.

  6. Ottwele says:

The comments by vaccinated continue to prove and show there true colors of intolerance against minority decisions. Your prejudice is increasing daily and time will certainly tell based on your choice. It amazes me that if your vaccinated why do you continue to be concerned about the unvaccinated? If your so call science is proven then why don’t you stop whining over our choices. We don’t care if you got jabed. But I’ll be damed if I will let you walk over me like this . Your in for a rude awakening . Trust me

    • Sandgrownan says:

Oooh.., sounds like a threat to me.

Everyone who went into ICU was unvaccinated. How many walked out?

Damn right I’m prejudiced against stupidity.

  7. Bermudian for generations says:

Sad and out of touch government. No other explanation.

  8. 100% Bermudian says:

Why should I pay for a hotel if I live by myself? I can wear a house arrest anklet so it would show my every step if I leave my house. For which if I do than fine me but if i am Bermudian and live alone why should i pay for a hotel and have an empty house wanting for me

    • SandgrownAn says:

      Because t
Bermudian s have shown themselves incapable of following simple instructions. In simple terms, you can’t be trusted.

      • billy joe says:

nobody was ever instructed to get the vaccine clown, as all vaccines its 100% optional.
