New Carnival Experience “Revel De Road”

February 19, 2022

Bermuda Mas Band Association [BMBA]  will be launching a new carnival experience in Bermuda called “Revel de Road”, set to take place in June.

A spokesperson said, “Bermuda Mas Band Association [BMBA] has announced a collaboration between Nova Mas International, Party People Entertainment, and Code Red Bda bands to breathe new life into Carnival in Bermuda.

“Within the two years of unprecedented challenges as a result of the pandemic, the various mas band organizers used this downtime to reflect and focus on the best way to support their masqueraders while also strategically enhancing the Carnival in Bermuda product. After extensive research and discussions amongst the bands, the BMBA was developed, and the unified team began coordinating a plan of action for 2022 and beyond.

“The BMBA was therefore poised for action when the Government of Bermuda made its recent announcement about a roll-back in the country’s COVID-19 protocols. In addition to sparking hope that we are beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel, this latest COVID-19 update included an end to large group exemptions and the lifting of restrictions on 31 March 2022.”

A spokesperson for the BMBA said that the “team met immediately following this announcement and decided to proceed with the launch of their stunning new Road Mas experience called Revel De Road. The event will take place between 17 June 2022 and 20 June 2022. More information will be provided on this new event shortly.”

“We are hoping to see every Bermudian, whether you have been a carnival participant in the past or not, to join Revel de Road and help keep Carnival in Bermuda Alive,” said one Band Leader.

Another Band Leader hopes that the public can support Revel De Road and our other signature events with just as much excitement and participation as past Carnivals.

“It has been proven that events on this scale could have a positive economic impact on the Bermuda community,” the Band Leader said.

“As part of this new direction, the BMBA has opted to move on from participating in the BHW Ltd. – branded Bermuda Carnival events, including the BHW Band Launch and BHW Parade of Bands,” a spokesperson said, adding: “We thank the BHW Ltd. Committee for all their efforts and wish them well with their events.”

They also said, “The bands that make up the BMBA are looking forward to creating a new and refreshing experience that highlights Bermudian talent, culture and artist, designers and people.”

“We can’t wait to see all of the masqueraders this year! We look forward to this being a positive change and seeing bands represent our local people. Cheers to a safe and enjoyable Carnival Season 2022. We will see you on the road soon!”

Agh, hate carnival. Keeps most of the island awake all night, I’m all for a good time, but not at 4am.

Obviously in the name of the overseas tourists, that come in their thous….er, handfuls, different rules seem to apply, no idea why.

Is a good nights sleep too much to ask?

    • Clear View says:

You have 364 other days for a good night sleep.
      Use them.

      • Super spreader event says:

Dumb move! And let’s be real – this event is for locals to shake their booty and not a tourism event where people travel to Bermuda for carnival. Give me a break!

        • Ringmaster says:

An event to show stats presented by the Minister of Health regarding size and age of the population are on full display, and is not something to showcase.

          • Question says:

It showcases the island’s obesity problem, mainly.

            • Ringmaster says:

100% correct. I was trying to be PC. We now have two events Carnival and May 24 showcasing the same problem and neither a shining example of a tourist attraction.

        • I heart 441 says:

In Actuality, hundreds of people fly into BDA and pump thousands into our economy. Prob bests you get your facts right before assuming

          • 100 percent BS says:

Absolute crap and you know it! Hundreds of people fly in? You obviously can’t count!

          • sandgrownan says:

Hundreds? Hundreds fly in for our fake carnival held at the wrong time of year?

Yeah, gonna call bs on that claim.

          • saud says:

oooh…hundreds of people? Thousands of dollars? You’re small and weak, sit down. you’re an embarrassment.

    • wahoo says:

At least it isn’t attracting those billionaires and there boats!

    • Question says:

It’s definitely not a tourism event.

      • I heart 441 says:

You’re definitely wrong. The Data proves your wrong

        • Question says:

So odd how the 2019 BTA report doesn’t even mention it.
What “data” are you talking about, exactly?

    • I heart 441 says:

It’s literally only this weekend and cup match weekend that the island has non stop partying going on. Guess what, you will live!

    • wondering says:

The hate is real!! Bermuda is not some quiet little British outpost. It is 2022!

  2. Sandgrownan says:

Carnival is a western judeo-christiAn celebration held pre-lent – mardi – gras. So, it should be in Feb or early March depending on the moon.

    In Bermuda it’s in June.

    • Great says:

Yes June. We byes do it differently but who are Code red congrats to d organizers for breathing life back into d country. Go Choy Aming.

      • sandgrownan says:

Great. So it’s not “carnival” in the traditional sense, it’s just an excuse for party.

So, tell me, how does this get marketed to tourists? Given Bermuda has no tradition of Carnival. How do “hundreds spend thousands” for our imitation?

  3. iyiyi says:

I live a quiet life but everyone should be entitled to make some noise past the time period provided it is very seldom .
There are parties in my neighborhood from time to time , a bit loud but i accept it , however more than once a month ( preferably every 3 months ) then that’s different .
