May 9, 2022

Caitlyn Bobb had an exceptional showing at the America East Championships, winning multiple medals, breaking multiple records and winning three awards.

Bobb competes for the University of Maryland, Baltimore County [UMBC] and their report said, “UMBC women’s track and field finished third at the America East Championships, their best finish since they were third back in 2016. The Retrievers also broke three different school records and two meet records on Sunday.

“Caitlyn Bobb earned Most Outstanding Female Track Performer, Most Outstanding Rookie, and the Coaches’ Award on Sunday after winning a pair of races and one relay. Bobb won the same three awards during the indoor season.

“Caitlyn Bobb broke two school records and one meet record on Sunday. She reset the 400m record with a gold medal in a time of 53.36. She then won the 200m in 23.44, a new school and meet record, winning the race by just .01 of a second.

“Bobb teamed up with Ariella Garcia, Collese Daley, and Ayanna Johnson to win gold in the 4x400m relay, setting a meet record in 3:39.24. She would not stop there, earning silver in the 4x100m relay with Savannah Wright, Petronilla Onyebadi and Daley in 45.76.”

In the race video above, which is courtesy of the America East Championships, the commentators were extremely flattering about Bobb, saying “she is not someone you want to mess with,” “you cannot beat her”, “she has gone nuts all weekend and it’s fantastic to watch,” “she is a fantastic athlete” and noted that “Caitlyn Bobb, has now in her career, has never lost an America East final, that is unreal.”

Bobb — who recently won medals at the Carifta Games in the 400m and 4×400 relay – will be part of Bermuda’s Commonwealth Games team this summer, where she will represent us in the 400m.
