Video: Nahki Wells Scores Game Winning Goal
Bermuda’s Nahki Wells scored the game winning goal as Bristol City defeated Plymouth Argyle by a score of 1-0 today.
The club’s match report said, “Nahki Wells scored a late winner as City came out on top over Plymouth Argyle at Home Park.
“The first real chance fell to the hosts as Mickel Miller whipped the ball into the box which was met by Dan Scarr, whose header flashed wide of the post. Finn Azaz then tried his luck as he fired the ball towards goal from outside the area, however his attempt also went wide of the target.
“City’s first clear-cut chance came to Martin as the forward connected with King’s inswinging corner, heading inches over the bar. Moments later, Conway had a chance to get on the scoresheet, playing a neat one-two with Massengo before his shot was bravely blocked by the Argyle defence.
“With the game becoming stretched in the later stages, City had two chances in quick succession. Both Nahki Wells and Massengo came close to finding the back of the net, however Argyle had Cooper to thank once again as the keeper made two strong saves to deny the Robins.
“With less than 10 minutes on the clock, Sykes won the ball on the edge of the box before Bell fed Wells who cut the ball onto his left foot and slid it under the keeper to break the deadlock.”
After the match Wells said: “I feel good, it was obviously tough out there today. The conditions made it tough and credit to Plymouth as well, they were a very good side. They tested us in different ways but for us it’s pre-season so it’s about getting what we need out of it.
“They caused us many different problems and that’s something that we can use moving forward and try to rectify heading towards the start of the season. It’s a win for us and another clean sheet so there’s definitely a few positives to take.”
