Marine Advisory: Round The Island Boat Race
The Government has issued a marine advisory in advance of the annual Round-the-Island Powerboat Race on Sunday.
A Government spokesperson said, “The annual Round-the-Island Powerboat Race will take place on Sunday, 7 August, between 12 – 3:30 p.m. n the interest of marine safety, the following sea channels will be closed to regular maritime traffic during the following times:

The passage between the Pylons at the entrance to Ferry Reach | 11:45 a.m. | 3:30 p.m. or until opened by the Coast Guard |
The passage between Hinson’s Island and the Paget shoreline | 12:15 p.m. | 2:45 p.m. or until opened by the Coast Guard |
The opening between Five Star Island and the Southampton mainland | 12:15 p.m. | 2:45 p.m. or until opened by the Coast Guard |
“The Coast Guard and marshal boats will patrol the race course. Mariners, pilots and boat operators should exercise extreme caution when navigating the race course area, particularly in the vicinity of Ferry Reach, Two Rock Passage and White’s Island in Hamilton Harbour.
“In the event of inclement weather, the race will occur on either Sunday, 14 August or Sunday, 21 August, between 12 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., along with the same rules.
“Mariners are reminded that it is an offence for a boat operator, including jet skis, to fail to observe the requirements of the Marine Notice.”
