Governor Rena Lalgie Arrives In UK For Funeral
Governor Rena Lalgie has arrived in the United Kingdom for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II; she will be attending the State Funeral, along with Premier David Burt.
A Government House spokesperson said, “Her Excellency the Governor has arrived in the United Kingdom where she will join heads of state, heads of governments and other VIPs to take part in the ceremonies and engagements being held in honour of Queen Elizabeth II.
“Tomorrow, the Governor will attend the Lying-in-State at Westminster Hall to pay her respects with Governors and Premiers from other Overseas Territories. On Sunday, she will attend a reception hosted by His Majesty King Charles III before attending the State Funeral at Westminster Abbey on Monday, September 19th.”
A funeral procession was held for the Queen earlier this week in London, with the Bermuda flag waving along the route, and Bermuda will also be represented at the funeral by Bermuda Police Inspector Derrick Golding, who will take part in ceremonial duties.
