Bermuda Triple Challenge To Be Held In March
After a two-year pause, the Bermuda Triple Challenge will return; from Friday, March 17th – Sunday, March 19th participants will run, jump, climb and crawl their way through three unique obstacle courses over three days in support of six Bermudian youth-based charities.
A spokesperson said, “Who will be crowned ‘The Fittest For Charity’? The enjoyed obstacle course racing weekend has raised over $400,000 since 2012.
“Individuals, and teams of up to five participants will navigate obstacles ranging from scaling a public bus, traversing the Regiment’s Assault Course, a 300ft water-slide and even a zip-line as they compete for $5,000 of available cash prizes. The Bermuda Triple Challenge’s unique scoring system combines points for fundraising with finishing times in order to determine who is, ‘The Fittest For Charity’.”
Organizers have already seen strong registration to date, including 16 international participants. Co-Race Director Jason Correia shared, “We are keen to get the charity obstacle course racing weekend up and going again. We have focused less on international participation this year as we feel the obstacles with flights and flight prices need another year to settle before we can market Bermuda as an attractive sporting destination to a wider audience.”
The spokesperson said, “100% of every dollar raised is donated to the weekend’s charities: The Bermuda Foundation for Insurance Studies, Tomorrow’s Voices, SCARS, The Reading Clinic, Raleigh Bermuda and Windreach.”
Co-Race Director James Holloway shared, “The unique scoring format allows for anyone to win. The more charitable funds raised, the better positioned participants are to win. We have an obstacle wildcard where each increment of $500 of charitable funds raised earns up to three wildcards which can be used by participants to “skip” any non-mandatory obstacle during the weekend, saving valuable time on route.”
“The weekend would not be possible without our returning sponsors, so thank you very much Argus, Chubb, Butterfield & Vallis and Buzz.”
The spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Triple Challenge kicks off 7:00 pm Friday, March 17th with the Argus Urban Foot Race through the old town of St. George’s followed by a community block-party with DJ Chubb and a bouncy castle for all to enjoy.
“The Butterfield & Vallis Island Challenge starts Saturday morning at 9:30am from Warwick Camp and will be followed by a family-style BBQ courtesy of Buzz and Butterfield & Vallis.
““Sunday’s finale at 9:45am will see participants in an all-out assault on The Royal Naval Dockyard, at the National Museum of Bermuda, including Casemates, which is part of the Museum’s property, Prison in the Chubb Royal Challenge.
“The weekend is wrapped up with the much-anticipated Buzz / Butterfield & Vallis participant appreciation brunch.
