Joshua Joseph Scores Twice For Thomas
Bermuda football player Joshua Joseph — who plays for Thomas College — continues to impress, as he scored two goals in the latest game, which follows after his hat-trick earlier this week, meaning he has scored a total of five goals in the last two games.
The school’s match report said, “Joshua Joseph scored two goals in the second half to inspire a comeback against Maine Maritime Academy on Friday, September 15th, 2023.
“The Terriers got off to a quick start, with Daud Abdi finding space to shoot within a minute and a half but was unable to find the back of the net.
“The Mariners dominated much of the first half, outshooting the Terriers 7-1 in the next 26 minutes.
“In the 38th minute, the Mariners found a pocket of space and were able to capitalize, taking a 1-0 lead.
“The Mariners were able to find the back of the net again in the 58th minute, but the game wasn’t out of reach for the Terriers.
“10 minutes later, Joseph was fouled inside the Mariners 18-yard box, and calmly placed the ball into the bottom left corner to put the Terriers on the board with 22 minutes remaining.
“Terriers’ goalkeeper Keein Wright had to make two important saves in the 84th minute to keep the hopes of a comeback alive.
“In the 86th minute, Craig Coventry sent in a 35-yard through ball to Joseph, who was able to head the ball into the back of the net, to tie the game up at 2-2.
“With only four minutes left, the Terriers were able to secure the draw. The Terriers were outshot 22-13, but were able to walk away with a draw thanks to some good defending.”
