Video: Nia Christopher Scores In Towson Win
Nia Christopher and her Towson University women’s soccer team will advance to the CAA Championship game following their 1 – 0 victory against William & Mary, with Christopher scoring the game winning goal with a backheel kick in the final minutes of the match.
The school’s match report said, “Towson women’s soccer outshot the Tribe 16-2 on Sunday, but it was a late goal from Nia Christopher that was the difference in a 1-0 win for the Tigers. Towson advances to the CAA championship game for the first time in program history with the win.
“Christopher scored the lone goal and now has a goal in two straight games. Towson would finally break through in the 87th minute. Phoebe Canoles got a ball over the top and played it across the box. Nia Christopher would get the ball on her feet and slot home a shot to give Towson a 1-0 lead, winning by that score and advancing to the CAA championship game.
“Towson will face No. 3 Monmouth who defeated No. 2 Hofstra in overtime 2-1 on Sunday in the CAA Championship game on Sunday, Nov. 5 at 1 p.m. at Tiger Field. The winner will receive the automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.”
