BUEI Kids Hour Saturdays: Humpback Whales
The BUEI’s ‘Kids Hour Saturdays’ on April 20, 2024, will showcase the Humpback Whale with a screening and book reading for children aged 5-12.
A spokesperson said, “The mighty Humpback Whale will be the focus for The Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute’s [BUEI] ‘Kids Hour Saturdays’ on April 20th, 2024.
“‘Kids Hours Saturdays’ [KHS] takes place every third Saturday of the month at 11am and 2pm respectively. Each hour features the screening of short films followed by a book reading for children aged 5-12 years.
“This month’s Kids Hour includes the screening of the 2016 Ocean Vet episode on Humpback Whales. The episode follows the late Ocean Vet, Neil Burnie along with a team of scientists on an expedition to prove the presence of deadly toxins inside Bermuda’s mid-migratory Humpback Whales.
“The book for this month’s Kids Hour, ‘Show Us Where You Live, Humpback’ by Beryl Young, celebrates a child’s connection and kinship with whales. Swimming, singing, and blowing bubbles—children and baby whales love many of the same things! This lyrical picture book shows us how the underwater lives of whales are touchingly like our own.
“Kids Hour Saturdays are free for members [Single Parent through Adventurer Tier] and all care givers, and $4 per child for non-members. Please note, caregivers must stay on site for the hour. Admission to the Ocean Discovery Centre at BUEI is also included.
“Mark your calendars for a subsequent selection of Kids Hour Saturdays taking place on Saturday, May 18th where the focus is on Sargassum Seaweed!
“Space is limited and advance registration is encouraged. To register for BUEI’s ‘Kids Hour Saturdays’, please call 294-0204.”
