Photos: Special Olympics At USATF Grand Prix
Some of the island’s top Special Olympics track and field athletes showcased their talents during the USATF Bermuda Grand Prix at the Flora Duffy Stadium on Sunday [April 28].
Eight athletes – Eleah Basden, Kemari Dill, Derek Ingram, Micah Lambert, Zafar O’Loughlin, Iyon Simmons, Exodus Somner and Eden Woollery – performed in front of a home crowd for the first time at the annual meet.
Simmons, who also raced in the Fastest Kid on de Rock final, won the 200 metres race in a time of 27.91sec, with Derek Ingram finishing second in 29.01 and Zafar O’Laughlin coming third in 29.73
All eight athletes also competed in a unified 4×100 relay with local elite athletes.
