Teenager Olly Cherry has launched a tourism service, Bermuda Your Way, offering a “unique and bespoke” travel experience for visitors to the island.

The 17-year-old, who initially developed the idea as part of a school project at Somersfield Academy, is passionate about the island and believes it more than fulfils the vacation requirements of different types of travellers.

Bermuda Your Way includes an Artificial Intelligence [AI] generated quiz on its website, where people can answer several questions before being offered a personalised itinerary based on their personality and vacation preferences.

“Bermuda is a special place, and there are so many ways we can make tourism a better product and more accessible for people,” Cherry told Bernews.

“I’ve had friends visit me from school and realised people do vacations differently.

“Some want to sit by the pool with a drink; some want to learn more about the history and culture of the island; and there are those who want to do fun stuff and have an adventure.

“Personalising an itinerary based on your personality makes the experience much better because Bermuda has so much to offer in every avenue.”

Cherry, a student at Suffield Academy in Connecticut, said he immersed himself in all aspects of the island to ensure he could offer the best experiences to would-be visitors.

Among the itineraries offered are adventure, family, local culture, relaxation, luxury, and budget-friendly.

“I did a ton of research to look for the best possible experiences, places, and things to do,” said Cherry, who hails from Hamilton Parish.

“Working in tourism would be my dream job one day.”

What a fantastic idea! I hope the BTA will help to promote this website. I did notice that the 1-minute quiz on the home page does not work. Hopefully, this is just a glitch – but wanted to point this out.

Best of luck with your future endeavors, Olly. You have done a great job and I hope your family and friends are proud of you. You have an amazing work ethic and an entrepreneurial mind!

    • Olly Cherry says:

Hey there! Thank you for your kind message! I am happy to inform you that the form glitch has been fixed and it’s now up and running smoothly. I hope you’ll find the form easy to use and enjoy the experience.

You are welcome and all the best with your future career goals. You are extremely marketable young man. Look forward to seeing your progression

    Thank you for doing this.

  4. Anthony Outerbridge says:

Well done, Olly! I like how you have arranged the island activities by categories such as family, adventure, island culture, etc. All the best in your future education, work and life!

  5. Cut Throat Cutie says:

Props to you for putting yourself out there, but a few comments:
*the customized itinerary at the end was blank
*when you are trying to attract tourists to authentic experiences, maybe use Bermudian photos (we don’t have theme parks!)
*instead of trying to compete with the BTA, hold a meeting and see how you can work together. You don’t have the $ to promote yourself like they do

I admire your innovation, but there are steps you haven’t considered: marketing, trust-building, collaboration with tourism vendors. Everyone can build a website; not everyone can build a successful enterprise.

    • Olly Cherry says:

Thank you for your constructive feedback. If possible, I would love to talk with you (ollycherry@outlook.com) to address some of the issues you mentioned.I’m still a high school student, so I’m not perfect, but I genuinely appreciate hearing what I can do to make the service better!
