KPMG announced its co-title sponsorship of CARIF 2024, set for September 24-25, focusing on Caribbean infrastructure investment and sustainability.

A spokesperson said, “This year, CARIF will take place on September 24 and 25 with regional governments, utility leaders, developers, project sponsors, and financiers attending the only pan-Caribbean event focused on investment in infrastructure.

“CARIF 2024 will bring together public and private sector participants to explore this year’s theme: “Infrastructure for a Changing Caribbean: Transitioning Through Investment.” This is important because, with increasing pressures from economic growth and climate change, Bermuda and Caribbean islands urgently need resilient and sustainable infrastructure. CARIF is essential for addressing these issues, exchanging ideas, and sharing insights on future Caribbean infrastructure investment.”

The forum will examine key questions including:

  • What are the infrastructure priorities of island governments and are they doing enough?
  • How are these priorities being implemented?
  • How can investors and financiers engage with these initiatives?

Vicky Hitch, Senior Manager, Sector Lead for Infrastructure and Government at KPMG in Bermuda said, “We are delighted to be a co-title sponsor for CARIF for another year. The event holds immense significance due to its ability to drive awareness, investment, and collaboration for the development of critical infrastructure projects in Bermuda and across the Caribbean. CARIF is the go-to regional infrastructure conference and we are pleased that the agenda will include key topics such as:

  • incentivizing the flow of private finance to sustainable resilient infrastructure projects, and considering the role of public private partnerships;
  • developing a robust and qualified workforce for modern infrastructure development and operation;
  • what effective long-range national planning for infrastructure investment will look like; and
  • prioritizing investment in digital infrastructure transformation, AI and cybersecurity for maximum output.

“We are also excited to announce that Richard Threlfall, KPMG’s Global Head of Infrastructure, Government and Healthcare is a key note speaker and will bring a global perspective, expertise, and key learnings to the conference.”

The spokesperson said, “Attendees will also have an opportunity to participate in roundtable conversations and two 1.5 hour workshops focused on:

  • The “Perfect” Procurement Process for Major Infrastructure Projects; and
  • Sustainable Finance.

“CARIF 2024 will also feature the CARIF Industry Awards which celebrates excellence and innovation in the delivery of Caribbean infrastructure policy, projects, and financing.
