The Office of Youth Affairs will host a Proclamation Reading of International Youth Day 2024 – which has a theme of “From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development” — on Monday [August 12] at City Hall.

A Government spokesperson said, “International Youth Day is an annual observance that highlights the importance of young people in the global community. It serves as an opportunity to raise awareness of the challenges and opportunities facing the world’s youth and to celebrate their achievements and contributions.

“For over two decades, this day has focused on the vital role of young people in shaping a sustainable future. From addressing food security and mental health to fostering intergenerational solidarity and green skills, International Youth Day has consistently highlighted the essential contributions of youth to sustainable development.

“This year, International Youth Day 2024 is themed “From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development.” This theme underscores the significant role of young people in driving digitalization and innovation. As the largest demographic of users and developers, youth are at the forefront of adopting new technologies and shaping digital trends. They are leading digital processes and creating data-driven solutions for a brighter future.”

Tinee Furbert, Minister of Youth, Social Development, and Seniors, stated, “On International Youth Day 2024, let’s celebrate the incredible potential of our youth to drive sustainable change through digital innovation. Together, we’re transforming clicks into progress and paving the way for a brighter future. I invite our community to come out on Monday, August 12th to celebrate our young people and acknowledge the power and potential of young people in creating a sustainable and inclusive world.”

“A Proclamation reading will be held on Monday, August 12th, at 11 am at the City Hall, along with a number of performances and presentations. The public is invited to attend this event and join in celebrating the contributions of our youth both in Bermuda and internationally. For more information, contact the Office of Youth Affairs at: youthpolicy@gov.bm.”
