Warwick Academy Highlight Exam Results
Warwick Academy shared its their students results from the summer 2024 examination session, and congratulated their graduates on the hard work they have put in.
Principal Dave Horan said, “It is with much celebration that we share with our school community and the Bermuda public our International Baccalaureate [IB], Business & Technology Education Council [BTEC] and International General Certificates of Education [I/GCSE] results from the summer 2024 examination session.
“In particular, I draw your attention to the universities and courses of study that our Year 13 graduating class achieved across the five Sixth Form pathways available at Warwick Academy. You should note the healthy variety in both the university admissions and the courses of study, which we believe are evidence of the strength of the academic pathways on offer at the school, the university advice given by our in-house team of advisors, the student talent on island, the teaching expertise at the school and the parental support. We often say that our most important measure of success is the achievement of our graduates gaining admission to the university or college that suits them best. We have enjoyed another year with 100% of the graduates gaining acceptance to their first choice university.

“My sincere congratulations to all our graduates on the hard work that they have put in over the past two years. We are very pleased with the overall outcome, and I am deeply proud of every one of them and greatly respect what they have achieved. This cohort’s achievements go far wider than what is reflected in these results. It is very easy to focus on statistics when we make this announcement; however, we must recognise that whilst these are important, they often hide the real achievements and fundamental value of what our graduates have been doing. This would include the significant contributions to sports, music, drama, community service, clubs, leadership posts and other initiatives whilst making sure their academics were in the right place. These are wonderful young people who will do great things.
“In terms of our Year 11 I/GCSE results, the tried and tested yardstick, widely used by schools, for measuring student success across a year group is achieving five grade C/4s and above. 85% of our students achieved this benchmark. In addition, 85% of all the distinct subjects written were at grades C/4 or better. Again, this compares favourably to the UK where 68% of students achieved grades at C/4 and above. Our students also excelled at the top grades with 38% A* and A and 9/8/7 grades achieved, also significantly above the UK’s 21%. What is also very encouraging is that 18 students out of our top 20, based on these I/GCSE results, are continuing into our Sixth Form this year.
“The top I/GCSE students [scoring 5 or more A*/8/9 grades] were:
- Andrew Mao [three A*, four 9s, one 8, one A, and two 7s]
- Zachary Johnson [two A*, two 9s, four 8s, two As]
- Ailie Waddington [four A*, two 9s, two 8s, and one 6]
- Ben Greenway, [two A*, five 9s, two As, and one 7]
- Oscar Regan [two A*, four 9s, two As, and two 7s]
- Jorgia White [two A*, five 8s, two As, and one 6]
- Chloé Samuels [four A*, one 9, one 8, and three 7s]
- Billie Rose Kempe [three A*, two 8’s, one A, three 7s, and one 6]
“Finally, we thank all our parents for their support of the Y13s and Y11s and our staff for their dedication, expertise and hard work. We know how much work goes into the build-up to final examinations, and once again, I extend my congratulations on a job well done.”
