Results: Premier & First Division Football
Footballers in the Premier Division and First Division were in action this weekend, with Southampton Rangers, Somerset Eagles and St George’s Colts all earning wins, while one match ended in a draw.
First Division
Southampton Rangers 5 St David’s 3
Southampton Rangers enjoyed a victory over St David’s at the Southampton Oval.
Rangers’ Kevon Douglas and Nacori Smith both bagged braces, while Antonio Bailey added another goal to secure the win.
St David’s Keishen Bean netted a hat-trick.
Vasco 2 Somerset Eagles 3
Two goals from Nathan Rego propelled Somerset Eagles to a victory over Vasco at BAA Field.
Rego opened the scoring for the Eagles in the eighteenth minute, giving his side an early advantage. However, Vasco responded quickly, with Rychus Symonds finding the equaliser in the 28th minute.
Just before half-time, Marco Basden restored Eagles’ lead, ensuring they went into the break with the advantage.
Rego then doubled his tally in the 63rd minute, extending the Eagles’ lead to 3-1.
Despite a late surge from Vasco, who pulled a goal back through Kevin Arruda in the 89th minute, Eagles held on to secure the victory.
Premier Division
Young Men’s Social Club 2 Wolves 2
A late goal denied Wolves victory as they drew with Young Men’s Social Club at Police Field.
Josh Hardtman gave Social Club the lead in the 53rd minute, but Wolves responded swiftly through Torque Outerbridge just nine minutes later.
Antinori Butterfield put Wolves ahead with a superb free kick in the 65th minute.
However, the game took another dramatic turn as both sides had players sent off.
Social Club’s Saki Tuzo, who had only entered the field in the 57th minute, was dismissed in the 75th minute.
In the 90th minute, a fracas saw Wolves’ Jermiah Steede and Social Club goalkeeper Ryan Evans receive their marching orders.
In a dramatic finish, Trey Tucker snatched an equaliser in stoppage time, ensuring the points were shared.
North Village 2 St George’s Colts 3
St George’s Colts gate-crashed the reopening of Bernard’s Park with a thrilling victory over North Village.
St George’s took the lead in the 23rd minute through Kashe Hall.
Riley Robinson doubled their advantage in the 36th minute, giving St George’s a 2-0 lead heading into the break.
Terryn Fray pulled a goal back for Village in the 70th minute before Z’Dao Dill levelled the score in the 83rd minute.
However, Senoj Mitchell found the back of the net in the 86th minute to earn the visiting side the win.
