Premier Pledges To Reach Out To Candidates
PLP Party Leader David Burt said that “after the election, either the PLP or the OBA would form a government” and said “if the PLP wins, I pledge to reach out to FDM candidates and independent candidates to meet with them to discuss their ideas and how we can work together for Bermuda and Bermudians. ”
A spokesperson said, “In Saturday night’s speech at the PLP Eastern Region Family Reunion, Party Leader David Burt called for unity. He noted that after the election, either the PLP or the OBA would form a government. However, if the PLP is honoured with the opportunity to serve, he pledged to meet with unsuccessful candidates who previously ran as FDM or independents.”
Premier Burt said, “On Wednesday, there will not be an FDM Government or a Government of Independents. The next Government will be led by the OBA or the PLP. And it will be for you, the voters, to decide which party will build the fairer Bermuda you deserve.
“If the PLP wins, I pledge to reach out to FDM candidates and independent candidates to meet with them to discuss their ideas and how we can work together for Bermuda and Bermudians. Because, family, this is not just about the PLP; it is about coming together to build a fairer, more stable, and more affordable Bermuda for all of us.
“But family, know this…the government for the next five years will be either an OBA or a PLP government… and a vote for the FDM or an independent candidate or staying at home could well result in an OBA government… and that is something you will have to live with for five long years,” the Party Leader concluded.
Party Chair Dawn Simmons stated, “There are some candidates of goodwill who are running, and there are some good ideas that have been shared—some of which even appear in our platform. Following the election, there will be a need to heal the divisions on our island, and therefore, we fully support the pledge made by our party leader of unity and inclusion to see if ideas that other candidates have shared can be incorporated.”

Agree to do 3 projects based on a plan developed by the 3 groups. Let them tell you how to pick an independent. Probably name out of a hat of those who want to join. Give a fee because it does mean extra work. Interesting . Interest of Bermuda can you imagine they come up with 3 priorities and rules to govern secrecy and in meetings they come to consensus and it has to flow with each party. The committe can consult anyone. Role out the 1st plan in one month.
1. ROADS
2. COST OF LIVING
3. SENIOR HOMES OR EDUCATION. TOo LaTE TO TURN BACK.
Get going. Make it happen so the naysayers can get back to their own lives and brush up on their very weak and immature analytical skills. They to will grow first draft get them to comment. 2 weeks. In 6 weeks we have no 1 done and ignore childish feedback like they said they were going to start paving yesterday but they did not stsrt. Gee get a life.It was raining….ignore this nonsense we get like they have perfect lives. Get going as I stated over and over stop the ping pong. You finally got it. Never too late.
I’m sure there’s no ulterior motive with this… LOL
Vote Burt out. He wouldn’t give a frogs foot about listening to what others think. His time is up, we see the state this country is in. Now it’s time for someone else to fix it.
Always someone else. I pick you. Step up. Put your crayons away and show us.
Burt sounds worried about the feedback from the door step. Where is he showcasing the achievements of the PLP since 1998 to make life better and fairer? Why is it center stage in 2025? Minimum wage and Financial Assistance doesn’t indicate a successful economy.
Always fixated on their opponents, never their own successes, which is not surprising. So why vote them back in?
Tiffany Paynter, Quinton Sherlock, Christopher Bean, and Juanae Crockwell definitely have something to offer. PLP would do well to replace the ” placeholders” in the party with the above persons. It’s time for positive change.
when the OBA originally came into power and turned the country away from the brink of collapse, they reached out to the PLP to join in to help, but the PLP refused and the PLP constructed groups (which have now disappeared) set off on a journey of disruption, emotional manipulation and nastiness which sought to divide and tear up what it means to be Bermudian.
I hope whoever wins, they work together with others, as this last 7 years has not birthed fruit for Bermuda, it has been a stream of sideshows and smoke and mirrors to cover up the infrastructure cracking, selling Bermuda to foreigners and giving away our future tax dollars.
I have a rug that does the same thing.
