Cricket: O’Brien Named Player Of The Tour
Bermudian cricketers Isaiah O’Brien and Sa-Qui Robinson impressed at the Ontario Cricket Academy’s [OCA] recent ten-day tour of Cape Town, South Africa.
The academy played several T20 and 50-over matches, with O’Brien earning the Player of the Tour award.
The OCA began with a double triumph in T20 matches against the Gary Kirsten Cricket Academy and The Cricket School of Excellence.
O’Brien scored 21 off ten balls and took one wicket for 23, followed by 23 runs off seven balls in the second.
The OCA enjoyed a ten-wicket victory over The Cricket School of Excellence, chasing down a paltry 48 with O’Brien contributing 15 off five balls.
The fourth match, a 50-over contest against the Gary Kirsten Cricket Academy, saw Robinson make his mark with two for 40. Despite the OCA falling short by 104 runs, O’Brien top-scored with 49 off 25 balls.
The OCA then faced Bishops’ 1st XI in a T20 match. O’Brien took one for 40, but OCA were bowled out for just 75, suffering a 160-run defeat.
In the sixth match against the Khayelitsha Colts, O’Brien took one for 12 and then scored 67 off 42 balls, guiding the OCA to victory with just three wickets remaining.
The tour concluded with a double-header. OCA secured a 13-run victory over Hermanus, with Robinson scoring 31 off 30 balls and O’Brien taking two for 31.
However, they fell short in their final match against the Gary Kirsten Academy, despite Robinson contributing 33 off 41 balls and O’Brien taking four for 66.
