Carnival In Bermuda Launches Music Contest

Carnival in Bermuda announced the launch of its Singer/Songwriter Competition, an “exciting new initiative created to highlight the extraordinary talent of Bermuda’s local music community.”

A spokesperson said, “This competition aims to infuse the Carnival experience with authentic, homegrown artistry by inviting Bermudian artists to create and perform an original soca and calypso song that reflect the spirit of Carnival and Bermudian culture.

“In partnership with the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce and Harbour Nights, the competition will culminate in a live performance showcase during a special Harbour Nights edition on Wednesday, June 11, 2025.

“Finalists will perform live on stage on Front Street in front of a vibrant crowd of locals and visitors. The public is warmly encouraged to come out and support the performers, enjoy the Carnival atmosphere, and take part in choosing the “Audience Favourite”.

“This initiative is proudly supported by our valued sponsors: the Ministry of Tourism, the Bermuda Tourism Authority, City of Hamilton, ZipX and the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce, all of whom share our commitment to celebrating and nurturing Bermudian creativity.

“Competition Details & Entry Requirements:

Open to Bermuda residents aged 16 and older
Entries must be original songs in soca or calypso style [no covers]
Song must reflect the spirit of Carnival and/or Bermudian culture
Submissions must include:
- Song in MP3, MP4 or WAV format [up to 4 minutes]
- Artist’s full name and contact information
- Song title
- A short artist bio [max 150 words]
