November Consumer Price Index: Inflation 1.1%

Consumers paid 1.1% more in November than they did a year ago for the basket of goods and services included in the Consumer Price Index [CPI].

A Government spokesperson said, “Today, the Ministry of Economy and Labour released the Department of Statistics’ November 2024 Consumer Price Index.

“In summary, consumers paid 1.1 per cent more in November 2024 than a year ago for the basket of goods and services included in the Consumer Price Index [CPI]. This level of inflation was unchanged from the October 2024 annual inflation rate. Some highlights for November 2023 to November 2024 include:

  • The Rent division increased 2.0 per cent.
  • The Health & Personal Care division increased 3.3 per cent.
  • The Food division increased 2.5 per cent.
  • The Education, Recreation, Entertainment & Reading division increased 1.5 per cent.
  • The Household Goods, Services & Supplies division rose 1.3 per cent.

“Between October 2024 and November 2024, the average cost of goods and services decreased 0.3 per cent. Additional areas of note between October 2024 and November 2024 were as follows:

  • The Transport & Foreign Travel division decreased 2.3 per cent.
  • The Food division fell 0.1 per cent.
  • The Education, Recreation, Entertainment & Reading division was unchanged.
  • The Household Goods, Services & Supplies division decreased 0.1 per cent.”

    Once again, our Government has done what most economists consider impossible. If the “Government spokesperson” is correct, Bermuda’s November 2024 retail price inflation rate of 1.1% is lower than retail price inflation in the U.K., U.S., or Canada during the same period.

    Reported retail price inflation in November 2024 was as follows: U.K. 2.6%; U.S. 2.7%; Canada 1.9%.

    With our lower inflation rate, we should be exporting to the countries from which we import the vast majority of our goods!

    i am riunning out of ideas for them, the list is getting smaller, my next idea was to water down the beer to make it go further . What a pity with all the good ones being pushed aside to next year from when ever .
    We coul take the visitors pasports an keep the visitor here forever to spend their money , that will give give imigration some thing to do on Sundays .

    the national pastime around here is shooting pigeons soon we will not have no wild life 87.43 % the frogs are gone 83 . 49 % mosquitoes are up 0.0094 % from last year .
